I came across Toronto based R&B Soul singer Allie very recently and I immediately recognized it as one of those soundcloud moments that was undeniably special. “Cross my mind” was my my first exposure to this Canadian Indie Soul Singer and her slow soulful crooning grabbed me immediately and made impression. Strange Creatures is her recently released EP and is now available on Band Camp for any price you name, which makes it worth picking up. You can pick up this track “Cross My Mind” on Soundcloud.
We’re big fans of Michael Kiwanuka and we follow him so closely that we could probably be given a stalker status. So naturally when we heard he was collaborating with none other than Dan Auerback from the Black Keys, we pretty much wet ourselves on the spot. “Lasan” is a B-side track from the forth coming single “I’m Getting Ready” which is off his début album “Home Again” due out March 12th. Now if you’re not familiar with Michal Kiwanuka you really have hit that snooze button. So take a minute, grab a cup of coffee or whatever your vice of choice, kick your feet up and prepare to listen to one of the best new artist’s of 2012.
Make sure and check out the links below to pre-order his album and explore older post.

If Janis Joplin, Robert Plant, and The Black Keys spawned children, they would have called them the Alabama Shakes. The last few years have produced some quality soul music: Amy Winehouse, Adele, Mayer Hawthorne, Michael Kiwanuka to name a few. Well now you can add the Alabama Shakes to the list. This twenty-something band spits out an infusion of Sixties Soul and Seventies Rock like they lived through it.
