Here it is, a look at UK Bass/Future Garage Producer Last Japan’s newest EP “DARSK”. After warming up the bass machines and cranking up the volume I prepared myself for a listen to what Marco Giuliani been doing all locked away in his pod of magic and Bass synth.
“Paid in Full” is gritty grime track that features Merky ACE, a new talent, who’s among group of young London MC’s energizing a 10-year-old genre. “Paid in Full” pays off with an inspired and unrelenting sound that will take you back to what you loved about early grime, raw quality.
Last Japan knows how to deliver the goods and does it every time with the mark of a true original. “Hoods” infuse old school breaks and new school wobbles.”Every Time I” and “Float” are quintessential Last Japan grooves, deep brooding bass lines, infectious melodies and strong vocal samples. Pick it up July 14 or pre-order through the link below.

London’s Last Japan has always been top of our list of producers that represent what’s really going down in dance music today. The main criteria for this list, consistently produce music that raise the bar every time and Last Japan hits this mark on the spot. He pushes boundaries with tracks that infuse Grime, Garage, heavy bass and deep melodies. He’s a true original and a Sublevel Favorite.
He’s planning on releasing a sneak peek of his EP “DARSK” tomorrow. So while we wait I thought we’d share a few essential tracks from one of the UK’s more important underground beat producers.
If you still need more check out his other project Circadian Rhythms a Bi weekly show he hosted with Black wax on NTSlive and you can always catch up with him on Facebook & Twitter. Don’t be a fool pick up the DARSK Ep Starting July 14.
Some of the best Electro music is coming out of the UK now a days. Every time I turn around there’s another producers setting the bar just a bit higher for everybody else. Last Japan, AlunaGeorge, Disclosure, Bondax , and Starslinger are just a few that come to mind when were talking about talented boundary pushers who are making moves in the UK. Now from everything I’ve listened to from London’s collective Funkystepz I would definitely have put them on that growing list. Funkystepz specializes in a mind numbing fusion of UK Funky, Garage and Bass It’s been praised and featured at all levels in the UK lately, BBC Radio One, BBC 1xtra, Kiss 100 Choice FM, Rinse and Hyperdub all have praised and supported them at one time or another. Their remix of Jeremih’s single “All The Time” is a big tune with wobbles that hit so deep and that it’s not hard to get lost a bit in it.
Last Japan released his latest track “Anonymous” today. It’s a damn good thing he did to because we were getting ready to flip into crack head mode if we didn’t get a Bass hit and a Wobble from Marco some time soon. Hey we understand he’s been a busy boy. He signed with Space & Time Records (Sony RCA) and he’s been all over the place, hanging out at BBC Radio 1 doing some guest mixes for Rinse FM, appearing in Quintin videos . You can check out his Facebook and Twitter if you want the full rundown on his escapades. We love watching this DJ/Producers grow in to bigger things. His talent is limitless and he continues to inspire and impress us with every track he releases. The future is looking good for Last Japan and I can only hope it means a full length, because I would love to see what he would do with a whole album. Anyways good tune, glad to hear from him Cheers!

Oh it’s Tuesday not the most exciting day of the week. Not as bad as Monday certainly no Friday. Thought I would check in with Last Japan’s Soundcloud for a little something to kick-start this week proper. Not really sure if these are finished pieces or works in progress, either way it’s some Bassed up goodness! Really looking forward to the official releases so I can get my paws on a copy of these, I’ll let you know.
My philosophy is one good artist will always lead you to another one. While digging for some Last Japan tracks I came across his great Analyzer remix he did for AlunaGeorge. That was my first real introduction to them. Aluna’s vocals are lush, interesting and matched by the support of some great Future Garage Blip-Pop incarnation.
Aluna Francis and George Reid have only been working together for about a year and with just a hand full of tracks out they’ve already been given the nod by Radio 1. For a young group just hitting birth, that’s a good start. It’s no surprise though the three track Ep is filled with memorable moments that kept me coming back to it all week.
You know lately it just feels like I can step out my front door and chuck a stick and hit any number of groups that are saturating the scene with mindless drivel. It’s just dam nice to see some creative and quality artist working together and standing apart from the rest. So go support some good music and check out their site for tour dates and pick up the Ep on Triangle Records, you can also nab it on Itunes as well. The Last Japan remix is a free download via Soundcloud, Grab that below.
My week has got progressively crazier and crazier and here are the tunes I have turned to for some much-needed decompression and relief.

Alright we have just three short days until Marco Giuliani aka Last Japan drops his “Settle Down” Ep. If you haven’t heard this South London music producer, he is putting out some of the best Uk Garage around. His title track “Settle Down” featuring the smooth and sexy vocals of Bobbie Gordon is pure bass line magic, the perfect soundtrack to roll around with on a Friday night. Make sure and check out all of his tracks and remixes on Soundcloud and you can always help support him by visiting Beatport and buying some music.
